In 1980 I began photographing punk shows in Texas. The work was based on documenting the nascent Texas punk scene, but also a study of the audience's interaction with the music, gesture, and an abstraction and slicing of space using a 28mm lens and hand-held flash. I quit shooting punk shows in 1984, but have continued to use the same lens/flash/film stock combination for other explorations.
